Phnom Penh, July 2, 2024 – The Government of the Republic of Korea, through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), has donated equipment for the second phase of the conservation and restoration of the Preah Pithu Temple Group to the APSARA National Authority of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts.

The handover ceremony took place in Siem Reap province on July 1, involving representatives from the APSARA National Authority and KOICA's Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation, according to an authority news release.

Mr. Song Youngjun, Deputy Director of KOICA, stated that the donated equipment includes 3D scanners, underground radar, software for data analysis, and other materials, totaling 11 different types.

This donation complements the 91 tools and equipment previously provided by KOICA to the APSARA National Authority, emphasizing the benefits of these materials for conservation and research work in the Angkor area.

Additionally, a laboratory equipped with scientific instruments for researchers to study architectural data and materials from temples in the Angkor area was handed over to the APSARA National Authority by KOICA.
